Inside Scoop On My Love Of Plants And Landscaping

The Inside Scoop is a little information for you on where my roots started, and how my passion of landscaping, plants, and designing began and grew.

The Root Of Horseradish
The Root Of Horseradish

My goal of this website is to provide simple and real information for people around the world. The wide variety of topics will allow each of you some options on not only creating your very own outdoor landscape, but also to improve the investment of your property.

I would have to say, my beginning with the outdoors and plants started at the age of five. A girlfriend and I decided to get adventuresome and were fascinated by a neighbors garden full of green tomatoes. This story has faded somewhat due to the passing of the years, but I do remember my hands were full of tomatoes and one by one they fell to the ground as the home owner was chasing us down the street. I also remember hiding under the bed, and waiting for my parents to receive the news of their youngest daughter and her first adventure with green tomatoes. (we won't go into details of what happened next!) Growing up I was surrounded by wonderful natural trees, shrubs, and flowers in upstate New York. I remember relatives with gardens with lush shrubs, flowers and vegetables. I grew up on fresh vegetables and fresh rhubarb. I remember the Willow, Hemlock, Maple, and many other varieties of trees around the area.

My husband, two daughters and I have lived in different parts of the United States. The New England states and Oklahoma offer different plant species. Each area and its different climate zone, created new ideas for gardens and different landscape schemes. We lived in Rochester, New York for twelve years. The highlight of this area was the spring, and the annual Lilac Festival.

The immense beauty of these species are breathtaking. In 1993, our daughters had outgrown their sandbox, so I decided to plant some culinary and basic herbs. Sand provides a wonderful growing environment for herbs. In the different places we lived, we also had vegetable gardens. In each location, I got to experiment with different vegetables, shrubs, and flowers that grew well in that particular geographic location.

We have lived in Greenville, South Carolina for fourteen years now. Immediately after we moved here in 1994, I wanted to transform a large area of our property into a series of herb gardens with pathways. The problem was I didn't have the vast amount of plants that were needed. Also, moving to a new and warmer climate zone, there were so many more plant specimens available year around. My husband and father build a 20X30 greenhouse, with commercial louvers and an inside heating system. I remember at one time I had over 5,000 seedlings growing inside the greenhouse. There were combination of herbs, annual and perennial flowers, and vegetables. Once my herb gardens were completed, I had this yearning to go out and help others plan their gardens and landscape.

I began my business of landscape and design in the year 2000. The first year I was on my own and the greatest aspect from day one, was working with my clients and satisfying their needs. The second year I was able to hire a crew for the business, and also opportunities to expand in the world of landscape and design. Unfortunately in late 2005, years of sports in my younger days and maybe the age factor, forced me into leaving an outside world that I loved doing. A year went by with the passion and my wanting to share the knowledge I have gained over the years. That passion still burned inside. In February of 2007, I found a company that was truly what I call a match made in heaven.

My tech skills were very limited and cut and paste was not even in my vocabulary. Over the past two years, SiteSell gave me the tools I needed to learn and create this website for you. I have come a long way as far as learning some technical skills, but more importantly, I have been able to share my passion and knowledge with each of you. My husband and I have traveled to sub-tropical and tropical locations, and have been able to show you different varieties of warm weather plants and conditions. I created the tropics section from seeing and experiencing different plants and cultures.

Having lived in a cooler climate, and now in zone seven here in the United States, the diversity of plants and outside conditions of the environment, is amazing. I also have incorporated for you a scenes in nature through photography section.

This section allows each of you to take a break from the fast pace world, and experience a little of what my photographer, my husband sees.

I am now working on my second website and another wonderful inside passion I feel and want to share with all of you. Interior Decorating Ideas For You creates basic ideas for your inside needs. This is anther simple and real website on different ideas to help you with your inside decorating needs. I have worked in interior or inside design and love to create different themes and rooms using a variety of colors, accents, and accessories. Both of these websites would not have been possible without SiteSell or SBI. Feel free to take a look at this unique and wonderful company, and the tools that Dr. Ken Evoy has developed. This is truly the wave of the future on the Internet, and a wave I plan on riding for a very long time! SiteSell Or Site Build It!
