Moss is one of the most beautiful
features of natural landscapes. It
is mainly found in the northern
hemisphere. The texture is soft
and contains several different
shades of green. It showcases
in dense forest and wooded areas.
This natural specimen thrives in
shaded areas. To many homeowners
or commercial companies, moss can
be a nuisance. It can be removed
by hand but is a tedious process.
You can remove it will chemicals but
always check and make sure the chemicals
are safe for the trees and other surrounding
plant specimens.

The next photo was taken in a thick forest in
the Mount Rogers area of Virginia. Notice the massive
amount of moss surrounding the trees.
Great Smokey National Park is home to many fallen trees and natural features on and surrounding these mature
specimens. Notice the length of this tree and the roots
at the far end of the photo. The park straddles the states of
Tennessee and North Carolina.

The next five photos of are rare and unique tree trunks and roots. The first shot was taken in Virginia. The roots are visibly noticeable and is on a pathway that takes you to Natural Bridge area. Take a look at the big hole in the center of the trunk. The tree is located in the forest of Mount Pisgah in North Carolina. A definite unique specimen.
The following photo is one of my favorites. The
root system stretches above the ground and
creates a great pathway for little creatures
to walk through. This tree can be found on
a trail around Table Rock, South Carolina.
Here is an exceptional looking tree that shows
off its distinct trunk structure. It is located on a
trail in Pickens County, South Carolina. Besides
tree trunks and
moss, take a look at the different water and rock features in the mountains.
The trail leads to Station Cove Waterfalls.
This picture is a fascinating view of a multi root
system on an older tree. I call it the octopus
as the lengthy roots and structure gives it
a look of an many legged creature. This is a wonderful tree
to view from a pathway in the Great Smokey
Mountain National Park.
The last photo is a little different shot. It was
taken on a path leading into Opossum Creek Falls
in South Carolina. I love the look of the entire trunk
begin engulfed with the needles. A really
spectacular natural looking tree trunk.
