Natural hiking trails in landscape create a mood of serenity as well as good exercise. You can hike through a variety of different terrain and see an abundance of color trees, shrubs and flowers. This is another photo gallery page of the beauty in nature in the southeastern United States. This photo was taken at Black Balsam Knob in North Carolina. This is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Rosman. The vast area gives you a wide open view of different plant specimens. Notice the natural rock pathway that runs through some of the different trails. A great walk for the entire family.  | | Glen Falls |
This is a picture of one of the trails that lead in and out around Glen Falls. Glen Falls is located near Highlands, North Carolina. One of the highlights in this area is in the summertime as Rhododendrons line different trails. The vibrant colors of these shrubs create the anticipation of seeing some impressive and breathtaking views of the different falls. A must trip for the hiker!  | | South Mountain State Park |
South Mountain State Park is northwest of Charlotte, North Carolina. This park offers options of short walks to luscious waterfalls or longer hikes winding through natural woods. The pathways are lined with large trees and different size rocks. The foliage has a variety of color tones and gives one a real sense of the environment.  | | Coontree |
Coontree is located in the Pisgah National Forest, north of Brevard, North Carolina. This particular trail is located in the ranger district. Wild flowers as well as different size boulders line the pathway of this moderate loop hike. You could also come across some large dead tree trunks on the side of the trail.  | | Table Rock |
Table Rock is located in the upstate of South Carolina, in Pickens County. This is considered a difficult hike and the reward awaits you at the top. Breathtaking views of the upstate can be seen for miles. Very popular destination for South Carolinians and visitors.  | | Pinnacle Mountain |
Pinnacle mountain is located in Table Rock State Park. This is also considered a difficult hike but the actual beauty lies in the pathways up the mountain. This photo was taken in the fall as most of the leaves had fallen off the trees. Once you reach the summit, the only time to actually get a good view is during the winter months. The hike is worth all the natural foliage during the spring, summer and autumn months.  | | Mount Rogers |
Mount Rogers is located in southwest Virginia. This exhilarating hike follows the Appalachian Trail. It encompasses a lot of wide open areas with beautiful vistas. Once you approach the summit, the trails become narrow. In the photo you can see the uneven terrain as well as moss growing on the dead tree trunks. The moss creates such natural beauty in this area. This adventure is about an eight mile hike to the summit and back out.  | | Comers Creek |
Comers Creek is in the Mount Rogers Recreational area. This is a short walk to a serene waterfall. The pathways reveal vibrant wild flowers and wild Rhododendrons intertwine the borders of the trails. Graveyard Fields is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway in the North Carolina mountains. This is also a very popular area for tourists, local hikers, and family outings. The pathways consists of fantastic foliage as well as gorgeous Mountain Laurels. The climax while walking through the trails are the great water features and waterfalls. Get to the parking facilities early, as it will fill up quickly.  | | Mount Mitchell |
Mount Mitchell is the highest point in the United States east of the Mississippi River. It is in Yancey County, 33 miles northwest of Asheville, North Carolina. Off the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is mile post marker 355. There are good trails to and from the summit that connect with other peaks in the area.

This is such a unique structure in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley region. This rock formation rises to over 200 feet. At the top, highway eleven crosses over it. This is a great scenic area with excellent nature trails.  | | Peeks Of Otter |
Peeks Of Otter is off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. A number of the trails are difficult but worth the trip to see interesting rock formations. The trails take you into thick forests with the rocks lying on top of each other. One would think that man has come in with machinery and moved them for you to view.
