Pictures of Variegated Evergreen Plants
Pictures of variegated evergreen plants
can help you find a landscape solution for your yard.
Adding color to the outside of your home, can turn a
unattractive area, into a beautiful place to enjoy day
after day. There are so many different types of shrubs and
plants to choose from today. People are most definitely in
tune with low maintenance care of shrubs and trees. A lot
of evergreen plants provide you with year around color and
very little up keep. When designing, I like to use a variety
of variegated shrubs. Here are some pictures of shrubs to
consider when doing a landscape project. My goal is for you to
see a close up of the actual color and texture of each plant by seeing these pictures.
The
Aucuba shrub will grow three to ten feet high and seven to ten feet wide.
The leaves are shiny and the variegated colors of bright yellow and green
really sets this shrub off in a garden setting. The Aucuba will grow well in zones
seven through ten in the United States. This specie needs shade and no direct sunlight.
The Aucuba is a great evergreen shrub complimenting Azaleas, Pieris Japonicas, and Hostas.
The
Subworth Arborvitae is a great evergreen shrub. The Subworth will mature anywhere from six to eight feet in height
and four to six feet wide. This shrub does well in partial shade. The Subworth is definitly a winner with its free style of variegated yellow and
green needle leaves. This shrub will do well in zones three through seven in the United States.
The
Goshiki Osmanthus shrub can reach seven to nine feet high and ten to fifteen feet wide. If you look
at the leaves you can see the ridged edges and how the leaves gives the Goshiki Osmanthus a unique look.
This specie is a wonderful upright and excellent for an open area.
The Goshiki also needs partial shade, and grows well in zones seven through nine in the United States.
The
Mop Cypress is one of my favorite shrubs to incorporate in a garden or landscape.
The Mop Cypress shrub will grow three to four feet high and three to four feet wide.
This shrub is great along a foundation and a great focal point or complimentary
plant with solid or other variegated evergreen shrubs.
The mop can take sun and partial shade. Great plant for zones five through eight in the United States.
The
Privet Ligustrum is a shrub that can grow ten or more feet high and four to six feet wide.
This shrub is best if not planted along a foundation. An open area will allow the Ligustrum to grow in its natural
form. Zones six through nine will do well to use this shrub. The Privet does need to be pruned to keep it under control.
The Privet Ligustrum grows well in sun to partial shade.
Liriope looks like grass and is great for bordering a bed. Grows 12 to 18 inches high
and six to ten inches wide. Can take sun or shade and in summer produces purple tone flowers. In fall, a berry
appears with blue/black color. Appropriate in zones five through ten. Great for a border.
The
Golden Euonymus is a medium size shrub, growing four to five feet high and wide. Does well in full sun or
part shade. Is an upright, but it does flow outward. Good for zones five through nine. The shiny variegated
leaves that look great with other solid evergreen shrubs. I have used the Golden Euonymus by a mailbox.
The
Kaleiscope Abelia plant will grow three to six feet high and three to six feet wide. Can take sun
or shade, but does require six hours of sunlight. Rich yellow and green color leaves and red tone in branches. Will
do well in zones five through nine. The Kaleiscope Abelia is great for accenting your garden.
Mountain Fire Pieris Japonica is a low spreading shrub, growing two to six feet high and two to three
feet wide. This plants likes acid base soil and rocky conditions and is native to the United States. Can take more
sun then other Pieris Japonicas. Notice the leave colors and how rich their tone is. Good in zones five through
eight.
Any one of these plants will add color and zest to your yard. This is only a handful of specimens you can
choose from.
