Pretty Place - A Majestic And Serene Place In South Carolina
Pretty Place is located on the
border of the states of South Carolina
and North Carolina in the southeastern
United States. It is a powerful and
unique place to come and spend time
with nature. Many people visit this
area during the course of a year.
This
is home to the YMCA Camp Greenville.
(Young Mens Christian Association)
The camp is privately owned by a branch
of the YMCA Camp Greenville, South Carolina,
which is my home town. It was founded in
1912 and the first purpose of this glorious
1600 acres, was to give awareness and
enjoyment for children and young adults.
Over the years, this area has become a
popular place for events. You can follow different
aspects of this natural beauty at the

Many different organizations use this facility to enrich
lives daily. This is a wonderful place to view
nature, and also a great
learning center for all ages.
One of the beautiful aspects of the area is
the
stunning open chapel. This is not only
a place for people to come and see
breathtaking views, couples can share
their marriage vows in the mist of the
mountains.
I wanted to share you
Pretty Place and give you a little information on this quiet,
but spectacular venue situated in the southern
end of the Appalachian Mountains.
Pretty Place
is visited by people from all walks of life. A variety
of people from different ethnic, religious, and other
backgrounds are drawn to this haven of nature.
It is not uncommon to see people sitting in the
chapel at sunrise and spending the time in reflection
and meditation. You may see and hear a person playing
a cello peacefully along with the sounds of nature.
The scenes in nature through photography section is one
way for me to give you a chance to see the wonderful
different aspects of natural landscapes. This section is
also dedicated to show you the immense beauty
that surrounds my own geographical location, as well
as some other places Tom and I have visited. Grab your favorite
drink and sit back and relax for a few minutes and take
in this tranquil Pretty Place.
The Appalachian mountains are known for the fog at any time of
the day. This is one of the unique aspects of
this area.
The photo on the right in some ways speaks for
itself. To me, this reflects the immense beauty
of the mountains. It also dictates
the majestic power that evolves with the
cross in the foreground. This picture is
one of my favorites that Tom took.
Both of these images are very peaceful, yet has the power to
project the wonderful combination of
man and nature. Have you ever been to place for the first time
and just stand in awe as nature captivates the entire area? This is
how you can feel visiting Camp Greenville and the chapel.
A single person stands
in wonder looking out at the superb view
surrounding them. In the hustle and bustle of our
everyday lives, to come here and take in the view
revives the mind and body. As you look out over the mountains
the tranquility of the scenery allows you to take a deep breath and
rejuvenate your senses. The wonderful aspect about the chapel and
area is the warm southern climate. You can visit anytime of year.
Springtime colors come to life when the native trees, flowers, and shrubs start blooming. The heat
of the summer months is lost with the mountain breezes. The brilliant color
of the trees in autumn become the focal point in this area. The ground
doesn't freeze in South Carolina, so the winter chill is erased by the
warmth of the sun.
