Scenic natural landscapes on the coast of Maine are part of this states pride and tourism. Summertime in Maine is like the hustle and bustle of everyday life in a big city. Tourists flock from all over the United States and other countries to this Atlantic coast area.

As a child, one of the highlights of my families summer was piling into the car and heading to the Maine coast. As soon as you passed over the bridge from New Hampshire, you could begin to taste the salt water on your lips. The spectacular pictures from the southern tip of Maine northward past Portland to Bar Harbor are illustrated by many professional artists. When walking on the beach, it was not uncommon to see easels and paint brushes swaying to the music of the summertime breezes. The natural shrubs lining the coast were brilliant different shades of red, pink, white, and purple. These scenic memories have lasted with me for a long time.

I have been back to this stunning area a few times over the last few years. The beauty of scenic landscapes remains in this northern coastal area. In the southern part of Maine, one begins to experience natural rocks along the waters edge as well as series of rocks embedded in the ocean.

There is such a diversity from the northern Maine coastline down to warm waters in Florida and further down to the tropics. Maine has many native shrubs lining the coast as well as interior of the state. One of the premiere shrubs is blueberry. This plant specimen grows wild in Maine and there are numerous varieties. One of the highlights in many restaurants beside the infamous fresh lobster, is a piece of homemade blueberry pie. Many of the restaurants are located in scenic oceanside areas and little towns.

Another scenic sensation in this state are the lighthouses. There are 46 lighthouses that shine near the coastline from Kittery up to Eastport. Each light house is unique and situated on a very scenic area on the coast. Pemaquid lighthouse is surrounded by layers of natural rocks. When living on or visiting on any coast, one of the natural landscapes is the rising or setting of the sun as well as the moon reflecting off the water. Whether you are in the scenic Caribbean or the Maine coast, each day brings a wonderful view of some of the most vibrant picturesque settings for us to see.

Natural landscapes creates a tone that many of us would like to take a piece of this tranquility and incorporate into a home project. Decorative ponds with trickling water, native plants, and natural rocks are just a few options we all can use. We as humans love beauty, and seeing and experiencing these natural wonders becomes an added bonus. We all look forward to relaxing on a vacation and doing the things we enjoy. The Maine coast offers people many different activities to view the vastness of the ocean.

Another one of the highlights is to see the natural beauty of native shrubs along the rocks on the coast.

A lot of people rent houses for a week or two along the beach front as well as within walking distance to the ocean.

The pictures are another highlight of the York Days summer celebration. The last picture is unique as we took this driving down Route One on the way to York. It was on a fast food sign and I couldn't resist the shot. You can get more then a burger as this place!
