Space can be a big problem in a big city,
apartments, and other small areas. A table top
container garden could be the answer you have
been looking for. Many people love living in a big
city, but are discouraged when they have no room
for any type of plant specimens. Do you have a
small balcony area, or a tiny spot on your rooftop
condo? The great aspect of a table top garden is the
containers or pots can be any size. This can be a very
simple and inexpensive type of garden project.
The four smaller containers can be different
sizes. In the first photo, Sage, Rosemary,
Banana Pepper, and Lemon Balm were
planted. In the three larger containers,
there are two Big Boy Tomato plants and
Cinnamon Basil. All of these plants provide
a great look and taste.
There are many different species you can use
for a table top garden. In the
spices and herb section, there are many possibilities for your limited space.
Another idea is to plant some small evergreen
shrubs in containers on your table. In the
gallery of plants section,
there a variety of small shrubs and
flowers to also consider. Just like
any outside garden, a table top
container garden should be planned
out. Your space is limited, so consider
what size containers would fit, yet allowing
you to enjoy that special time outdoors.
Pick out your favorite colors that would coordinate with your small space. If you live in an apartment building, create an atmosphere with your containers that reflect a specific theme, such as a tropical or whimsical.
You can plant your favorite vegetables, herbs, or flowers on the table, and enjoy the wonderful aroma and color of each individual plant. The picture below shows you seven different plants. Three are in large pots and four are in different sizes. There is enough space for you to sit down and enjoy your favorite meal, and reap the benefits of a few fresh vegetables and herbs.

Match the color of your containers with other
outdoor features around you. Imagine
getting off from a hard day at work, stuck in traffic
for a long time, and sitting down to dinner with your
favorite fresh vegetable right at your finger tip.
Maybe you have been running the children all over
and forgot to pick up some Basil to accent your
meal. Go right out to your table garden and clip a
few leaves off the Basil plant.
There was a question not too long ago on a person
wanting fresh tomatoes, but she didn't have an area
big enough to have a ground or any type of garden.
The table top container garden is a perfect solution
to this problem. She just wanted one tomato plant
and anther option is to have a decorative container
on a step.
This picture is of a small container of Parsley.
The container fits nicely into the decorative bunny
planter. The planter won't take up much room, and
is great for small areas.
If your room for a container garden is limited to a small table,
consider doing one pot with a few different
plants in them. A combination of a couple
of herbs and a vegetable could be a great
addition for you. If you live in an area that
has very little room, the table top container
garden may be the answer for you.
