This section is set up a little unlike the examples of landscape designs. Each of the series will try and give you ideas and tips on how to incorporate a few tones using a variety of trees, shrubs, flowers and herbs.
Today there are so many different plant specimens around. Growers are developing new hybrids of flowers and shrubs. Crepe Myrtles are in full bloom here in the southern United States. One house a few miles down the road has a cross breed of a purple and pink Crepe Myrtle. It is one of the most striking trees during the summer months.
Each of these themes will give you ideas on what shrubs and trees go well together. There will be a simple design with different tips on a variety of shapes to use for a bed or a sequence of garden beds. Along with the simple design, there are letter codes that will show you a possible good place to position each plant. There will also be photos of each plant specimen so you can get a visual of how the colors and textures blend in with each other. There will be some photos that will show you three in a row. If you look at the layout of the landscape garden, you will see I may have put three or two of the plant species along a certain area. This is for you to see a visual of how it could possibly work in a specific garden. One of my goals on this website is to provide you with simple information on a variety of different aspects of gardening and landscaping your yard. I know that every plant I show may not be in your geographic zone, but hopefully it will allow you to see what colors work well together. Most people today want low maintenance trees or shrubs and most of the plant suggestion are relatively low maintenance. Evergreens are becoming very popular as people want to have leaves and color year around.
The first theme based garden will be on using purples, yellows and greens throughout five different size gardens.
Tips and techniques for a small theme landscape garden project
will give you some ideas for preparing a small area. Container gardens are also nice to to put a few of your favorite colors and unique tones. This will be an on going garden series and over the next few months and I hope to be adding more simple ideas and tips for you. Feel free to to send me your feedback on any of this information.
