Bordering A Garden With Liriope

Variegated Liriope
Bordering a garden with Liriope is a great way to give your new landscape a finished look.

Liriope is a hardy evergreen and will do well in a variety of geographic locations. When I talk with clients about doing a garden we go through the plan, prep, and plant method. Link to this page is at the end of this article.

Liriope is very popular today in a variety of garden settings. This plant is a member of the Liliaceae family or Lily. Liriope grows well in zones six through ten in the United States. It will also grow in many other countries, as well as sub-topical and some tropical locations.

Liriope is available in a solid green color as well as a variegated cream and green tone leaves. There is also a dark black variety that shows off its rich deep green foliage.

Liriope will mature to ten to eighteen inches tall and twelve to eighteen inches wide. It can take full sun, partial shade, or full shade.

This plant does have a tendency to spread in a garden.

I recommend to clients to watch for the new sprouts so they can keep them under control.

In the spring and fall, you can divide a plant and use it in another area.

This plant is noted for its summertime blooms of lush, tall and slender lavender flowers. In the late fall, dark blue tone berries appear and remain into the early winter months.

There are so many different plant specimens that will compliment Liroipe.

In the gallery of plants section, many of these species look striking and Liriope bordering around them. Cypress, Arborvitaes, Junipers and many flowering ornamental bushes can compliment the Liriope.

Finishing touches on a single garden or an entire landscape area should be thought about during the plan phase. This is the plan, prep, and plant method!

Liriope will enhance a rock garden as well as along a bed near the foundation, or other outdoor features. Great specimen plant to incorporate in beds in your front, side, or backyard.

Liriope is a great addition to any garden, and using either the solid or variegated variety will give your home a wonderful new and fresh appearance This specimen adds a lot of color and a great solution to bordering a bed.
