Cleveland Pear Tree odor?

by Tony
(Alexandria, La)

I^ve read that the Bradford Pear blossoms give off an unpleasant odor. Being that the Cleveland Pear is a product from the Bradford I wonder if it too has an offensive odor?

Cleveland Pear Odor
by: Kimberly

Hi Tony, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. This is a very good question.

You are right that the Bradford Pear tree blossoms have an odor when they bloom in the spring. The blossoms last about a week, and in the southern United States are one of the first blooming trees in spring.

The Cleveland Pear blooms don't have an ordor. The are also considered a little stronger tree. The Cleveland Pear is becoming a popular tree to plant in rows, or as a focal point in a front or back yard.

Thank you for asking the question on the Cleveland Pear odor, and feel free to ask anytime.
Kimberly
