What Is A Knock Out Rose
by: Kimberly

Hi Morton, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Knock Out Roses is a particular variety of the rose family. They are very popular in the United States. They are easier to maintain and can bloom twice. Growers are developing more varieties each year. Great specimen for many style landscapes and gardens. Thanks again for your input on this question. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Cutting Back Knock Out Roses
by: Kimberly

Hi Mike, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on your Knock Out Roses and pruning.

Thank you Morton for answering the question and the link to the page on roses.

Knock Out Roses don't have to be pruned often. If it is the first year in the ground, I recommend not pruning. Wait until the second year and do a small pruning after the first bloom. Trim off dead branches and deadhead the flowers.

You can also do a small pruning in late winter or early spring. This will enhance blooms for the upcoming warmer months.

Knock Out Rose shrubs are becomming more popular everyday. Growers are developing wonderful variations in colors and sizes.

Best of luck to you Mike, and thanks again for asking the question. Feel free to ask anytime. Have a great day. Thanks again Morton.

Pruning Roses
by: Morton

Pruning roses I do in winter, June/July, take out any dead/desiased wood, spindly growth but while looking for 3-5 good canes to leave ,I base my pruning on vigour of bush, More vigourish ones I prune harder/lower than those less so, Two favourites, Aotearoa & Alexander are medium to Tall(up to 1.2 metres)

Hope this helps
