dwarf conifer suggestions

by Cheryl
(Michigan)

I am looking for a dwarf conifer that will be a north foundation (not direct light) planting in zone 5, but.... I am limited to a variety that is 1 ft to 2 ft in height maximum. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dwaf Conifer
by: Kimberly

Hi Cheryl, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking your question on a dwarf conifer for the north side.

A couple of low growing evergreen conifers come to mind. These will do well in your zone five in Michigan.

1. Dwarf Hinoki Cypress
2. Variegated dwarf Hinoki Cypress

3. Blue Star Junier - good choice
4. Blue Rug Juniper
5. Blue Pacific Juniper - good choice

6. Dwarf Hemlock - excellent choice

7. English Variegated Boxwood - small boxwood, a little taller at three feet, but can be pruned

8. Helleri Holly - a little taller also

I hope this gives you some ideas for your area. Thanks again for asking the question here at landscape solutions for you. Let us know what you decide. Have a great day!
Kimberly
