Slope, grass, dirt sinking in, unsafe to grow, definitely erosion. I need a step by step guide to fix this problem most economical way possible. Thanks.

Erosion Problem
by: Kimberly

Hi Lauren,
Kate had some great questions for you on the erosion problems you are having. One of the first things to do is to view the overall problem. Is there a drainage problem that can be taken care of before consider planting. Your goal is to divert the water away from the erosion area.

Once the water flow problem is identified and taken care of, you will have to decide if you need top soil brought in. A good quality top soil with sand, saw dust, and black dirt will work well. If your erosion problem is on a slope or bank, Jute is a great landscape fabric that will hold plants into place.

Please feel free to let us know where your erosion problem is located, in a low lying area or slope. We would be happy to walk you step by step in getting the problem under control. Thanks again for asking the question here at landscape solutions for you. Thank you Kate for also taking the time to help Lauren. Have a great day.

Kimberly's response
by: Kate

Hi there,
First, Kimberly, my best energy and wishes are with you and your family, in this hard time.

Next, I have some experience dealing with erosion in zone 7; and maybe can offer some suggestions. But, questions first: what is the shape/size of the area becoming eroded? Does it get a lot of rain/runoff? How much sun/shade? A lot of wind? What do you think is the source of the erosion? Is it ongoing, or do you think it was an isolated result (of a storm for example)? What use do you want to put this area to when you're finished (lawn/play area/veg garden/driveway???)
