I live in Tunis,Tunisia, North Africa. I want to know which is the best plant to be used for Fence which will be 7 feet high and thick enough to give privacy , also grow fast.

Shade over drain field

I have a large back yard, approx 100x75, but have no shade and no plantings due to the drain field. There's a privacy fence down one side and an above-ground pool on the other. Any suggestions on what I can plant for shade? I'd also like to take up some of the grass and incorporate a natural bird/butterfly habitat but don't know where to start. I live in Zone 8.

Plants For Fence And Privacy

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on what type of plants you can use for a privacy area.

You will be looking for salt tolerant and warm climate. Here are some suggestions.

1. Natal Plum - evergreen - fast grower - height six to ten tall - four to eight wide

2. Bougainvillea - evergreen - medium grower - height - 15 to 40 feet and wide

3. Wild Cotton, Upland Cotton - evergreen - fast grower - six to eight tall - and eight wide

4. Oleander - evergreen - medium grower - 10 to 18 feet tall - 6 to 12 wide

5. Silver Buttonwood - evergreen - medium grower - 15 to 35 feet tall - 20 to 30 wide.

There are other species that would work also. Feel free to contact me and I can give you more suggestions. I hope these five warm climate plants help.
