Hi Beryl:
This is Kimberly from landscape solutions for you. Thank you very much for taking the time to ask a question. Sounds like you are very busy with your neice and nephew. A vegetable garden for small children is a wonderful idea.

You can do a small container garden and have each child plant some vegetables in one or three containers apiece. You can put this in a very special place where they can watch the vegetables grow. Teach them about watering them properly and also let them be involoved in the entire process of planting the seeds or small plants.

You can also plant a small area outside and put some vegetables in a little defined bed. This is a great way to show children how the process of not only planting a garden, but also how the plants mature, and how to properly maintain each vegetable.

I will be doing a page in the learning center this next week on different shapes teachers, parents and family memebers can use to create a special garden for children. You can take any shape and create a wonderful flower garden, vegetable garden or any other type of garden.

Thank you again for taking the time to ask a question. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. If anyone else has other ideas for Beryl, go ahead and share them with her and all of us. Have a great day!
