HELP Indian Hawthorn turned reddish brown

Is My Hawthorn Dying?

Is My Hawthorn Dying?

Is My Hawthorn Dying? Is My Hawthorn Dying? Is My Hawthorn Dying? Is My Hawthorn Dying?

Hello:

I wanted to create a hedge between my neighbor's property and my property so we purchased some small Boxwoods and a few Indian hawthorns but her huge dog kept peeing on them and they yellowed and a few died. The few that remained, I've replanted. However, one of the Indian Hawtorns turned a reddish brown after transplanting. I gave it some cow compost, peat moss and lily miller's Vitamin B1 Plant Starter to reduce shock and water it regularly. It doesn't look healthy.

Is it because it is planted by the paver bricks that that lines our driveway. When it rains, the corners do get lots of rain.

What do I need to do. I've spent thousands of dollars on plants, shrubs and grass and I do not want my efforts to be in vain.

Please advise.

Indian Hawthorn Turned Reddish Brown
by: Kimberly

Hi Pamela, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thanks for asking the question on your Indian Hawthorn. Thanks for the photo also.

The Indian Hawthorn from the picture doesn't look good at all. From the picture it looks like it could be dead. Go ahead and do the scratch test like you did with your other shrubs. If the branches are brown, from the color of the leaves, this shrub may be lost.

If there is any hope to save the shrub, you will have to transplant it away from you sidewalk and prune back. Sorry about your Indian Hawthorn but from what I can, it has gone beyond shock. Thanks again for asking the question. Have a great day.
Kimberly
