One More Thing On Hibiscus
by: Kimberly

Hi Sheryl, Kimberly here again. One more thing on your Hibiscus. Being in a pot you won't have to prune back like you would if the plant was in the ground. Trim back any leggy branches or dead flowers. Keep the plant in its natural form and always cut at an angle. Never cut straight across as you could damage the plant. Thanks again.

Bringing Potted Hibiscus Inside
by: Kimberly

Hi Sheryl, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you very much for asking the question on your Hibiscus.

Ground Hibiscus are pruned back before the first frost in the fall. (or eary spring before new growth emerges) Your container Hibiscus should be brought inside before your first frost.

Your main goal is to avoid as much shock to the plant as possible, as you are bringing it into a new environment. Hibiscus needs a good amount of sunlight. Place near a window. If the soil is old, I recommend changing it out a week or two before bringing inside. Hibiscus are tropical plants and they like some sand in their soil.

Keep the Hibiscus watered and make sure there is good drainage in the pot. Watch the Hibiscus the first few weeks to see if it shows any sign of shock. If it does, move to another location. Tropcial plants also like humidity, so if you have a sunny location that receives some humidity, that would be ideal for your plant.

To winterize -
1. Check the soil - some sand is beneficial
2. Sunny location with some humidity if possible
3. Good watering schedule

I hope this helps you some and thanks again for asking a question here at landscape solutions for you. Feel free to ask anytime and have a great evening.
