Is possible to grow crops with a kinda poor sandy soil in a sort of cold climate?

Hey I have a question and asking for advice. I am doing a research for my bio-geo subject and I wanted to ask, is it possible to grow crops, food products, and what kind of plant would do well in a poor sandy soil, along with a cold climate. (like around 3-7 degrees celcius)? If it's possible, could you tell me what kind of plants will survive? Thanks first.
