Nandina Pruning

When do I need to prune Nandinas?
Do you take out some tines and is there a time when
you take them all down to ground level?

Nandina Pruning
by: Kimberly

Hi, this is Kimberly from landscape-solutions-for-you. Thank you for asking your question on pruning a Nandina. One of the highlights of a Nandina specie is there doesn't have to be any pruning. I have pruned the Nandina on a client's request.

The Fire Power is a dwarf and the only pruning you may want to do on this variety is trim back a little in the fall or before the leaves turn green in the springtime.
A mature Domestica over the years may get
leggy and this is when you should do some
trimming. Can be done after berries are gone or in the fall months.

I will give you the link to the Nandina page on this Web site. If you have any further questions on Nandina's or any other landscape question, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to help you. Best of luck on your pruning, and thanks again for asking a question.
Kimberly
