Need to identify a type of cypress in my yard

by Jeanne
(Brightwaters, NY)

I have an unusual cypress in my yard and need to purchase another one but do not know its proper name. Its tall and the branches have thorny, green ends.

Identifying Cypress In Yard
by: Kimberly

Hi Jeanne, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question about your Cypress in your yard.

In my mind I have gone back over the Cypress family, and most Cypress have soft needle like leaves. I was wondering if at all possible you could send a picture so we can see the plant specimen. How big is it? It is also possible it could be a Lemon Thread Cypress or a False Cypress. They are variegated in color but when new growth appears the ends are green.

Another possibility is an Arizona or Carolina Sapphere. This specimen is more teal in color but can have some green in the needle like leaves. I would love to find out what specimen you have. If you can't upload a picture, could you describe a littl more about the height and width. Thanks again Jeanne for asking the question. Feel free to ask anytime and look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!
Kimberly
