non blossoming Cleveland Pear Tree

No blossom on my Cleveland Pear tree.

I planted 2 Cleveland Pear trees last fall and neither showed white blossoms this spring. I have used miracle grow liquid fertilizer but no lime since I read that would be counter productive. Why are my trees not turning white??

Cleveland Pear Tree Not Blossoming
by: Kimberly

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on your Cleveland Pear tree.

A couple of things come to mind. Sometimes the age of the tree when you plant it may determine if the tree blooms at the right time the following season. This is also true of shrubs and flowers.

You will want to make sure the tree is healthy. You didn't mention any leaves turning yellow or falling off. I would recommend just to be sure of the two Cleveland Pears health, to take a small knife and scratch the surface of a limb. If it is green the trees are healthy. If it is brown it could be in shock.

Make sure you have taken the proper steps in your mind before you planted the tree. Cleveland Pears can take full sun. Ground prepped before hand. Organic mushroom cost is an organic fertilizer that will last up to one year. Great for Cleveland Pears. Watering shedule should be in place.

I am not sure what climate zone you are in. If the Cleveland Pears green leaves and limbs or branches have green in them, this could be the case of the age of the tree. There is a possibility you could have blooms later than usual with newly planted trees, or they may not bloom until next season.

My main thought is if the trees look healthy, I would let them go and just keep on a good watering schedule. If you didn't add mushroom compost when you planted, it won't harm either tree.

I hope this helps and let us know how you make out with your trees. Thanks again for asking the question and feel free to ask anytime. Have a great day.
Kimberly
