Planting Trees On A Slope
by: Kimberly

Hi Adrienne, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on what trees to plant on a slope.

I am not sure how steep your slope is, but here are some suggestions that may help you out.

1. Arborvitaes - evergreen shrubs and trees that can give you a privacy screen. A great variety is the Emerald Green. This is a fast growing tree and would work well in your zone.

2. Cypress - evergreen and many have variegated needle like leaves. Varieties would be the Lemon Thread and the Green Thread.

3. If you slope isn't too steep, you could add a few Red Bud, Weeping Atlas Cedar, or other Cedar trees.

4. An option you have for your slope, is to put a privacy screen along the back. You can actually add shorter shrubs like the Loropetalum and Mop Cypress. (all evergreen)

5. Some others are different color tones of Juniper that will give you some height. The Blue Anelica, Golden Pfitzer, and the Sea Green. The Sea Green is one of my favorites.

Don't be afraid to put color year around in your zone five, even with the colder weather and snow in the winter months.

I hope this gives you some ideas and make sure you properly prep your slope before planting. Thanks again Adrienne for asking the question, and please feel free to ask anytime. Have a great rest of the afternoon and evening.
Kimberly
