Planting Shrubs By Foundation
by: Kimberly

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on planting your shrubs in a foundation.

This is a very good question to ask. One of the first steps is to know the total maturity of each shrub. Know the height and width. A general rule is to plant a shrub two to three feet at least away from the foundation.

If you have a small width in the bed along your foundation, make sure each shrub is away from the foundation.

Foundation shrubs will do great if they are planted a few feet away from the foundation, proper prepping of the soil, and adding some organic mushroom compost to the soil and each hole. A good watering schedule also.

The other thing to check if with each shrub is to see if they have invasive root systems. You don't want any roots going underneath the foundation.

I hope this helps some and if you need help with specific specimens to plant along your foundation, I would be happy to help you out. Thanks again for asking the question. Have a great day!
Kimberly
