Plants to grow near the house

Can I grow lemon conifers and other evergreen shrubs next to my house? We need to replant our border in the front garden, and want to use evergreen shrubs. However, I am worried what can grow safely right next to the house.

Plants To Grow Near Your House
by: Kimberly

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on plants to use along your foundation.

I am not sure what climate zone you are in. I think you might be talking about the Lemon Thread Cypress. I wouldn't recommend planting the Lemon Thread near you foundation. You could plant the dwarf cypress variety of Mop Cypress. This is a smaller variegated shrub and works well. Consider a Ruby Loropetalum, along with a Hinoki Cypress. Indian Hawthorn work well also. You can consider
a Yew shrub, Blue Owl Juniper, or other smaller Juniper. Take a look at the gallery of plants section as well as the variety of more plants. There are a lot of different evergreen shrubs you could use.

I hope this helps, and let us know what you decide. Make sure you properly prep your soil. Also, add some mushroom compost to your soil. This is a great organic fertilizer that will last up to one year.

Thanks again for asking the question, and feel free to ask anytime.
Kimberly
