Privacy trees

What are good trees to plant for privacy that will not get to tall, no taller than 5'or 6' but will be like the emerald arborvitae. Also has to do well in a cold climate live in Nova Scotia on the eastern seaboard, wind, ice, thaws, snow, rain. Would like a tree, a hedge would mean growing on my neighbors property.

Privacy Trees
by: Kimberly

Hi Donna, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on privacy trees. Here are a couple of suggestions for you.

1. Degroots Arborvitae - evergreen zones 3-7. This tree will grow ten or more feet, but you can keep it topped off. Great tree for your climate.

2. Holmstrup Arborvitae - one of my favorite choices for you. Does well in zones 3-8, and grows four to six feet tall.

3. Green Thread Cypress - zones 4-8. Evergreen with solid needle like leaves.

4. Lemon Thread Cypress - zones 4-8. Variegated needle like leaves. This is one of my favorites also.

One of the problems you run into with evergreens in your zone is many are big for what you are looking for. These four specimens are the ones that come to mind.

Thanks again Donna, and let us know if you need more suggestions. The best to you and have a great day. Feel free to ask anytime here at landscape solutions for you.
Kimberly
