RE: LOROPETALUM Condition

by Pamela

Hi Kimberly,

Here are the pics of my loropetalum. I just noticed it has some white rings though none appears to be raised. Some has holes in them.
I treated with BAYER ADVANCED Quart 12-Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed Concentrate as I assumed it was white scales or infected with some type of fungus.

Please advice. Thanks so much!

Hi, Mrs. Kimberly,

Thank you so very much for responding...I will do as you've recommended immediately. Oh, please ignore the latter picture just sent. I wasn't aware of your comment until now.

I will definitely keep you posted:-)

Loropetalum

Hi Pamela,
Thanks for sending the two photos. The Loropetlum definitely is struggling. At this point to try and save it, even though it isn''t the right time to prune, I would prune it down. In the first picture you can see where there is new growth towards the bottom.

I would top the shrub off at an angle. Bring down the size of the branches to one of the lowest notches of each branch. Make sure you angle your cut and leave a small amount of new growth on each branch.

I would recommend also to get some organic mushroom compost. Loosen the dirt and add the compost. Make sure you get the Loropetalum on a good watering schedule and see what this does in the next couple of weeks.

Please stay in touch and let us know the process of the shrub. Thanks Pamela and good luck.
Kimberly
