Roses Grown Wild

The opposite problem
by: Carol

I have the opposite problem in that my roses have grown wild. I don't believe the previous owners ever pruned them. What is the best time of year to cut them back?

Roses Grown Wild

Hi Carol, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on your roses.

I am not sure what geographic location you are in. I recommed if there aren't any blooms on them now, to go ahead and do a good pruning back.

I personally have had my carpet roses grow in leaps and bounds. They can have repeat blooming times throughout the spring, summer, and fall months. As soon as they are done with one cycle, I will prune back.

The best time to prune is in the fall. I am not sure what type of roses you have, but main objective to prune after blooming.

Thanks again Carol for asking the question and feel free to ask anytime. Best of luck in pruning and if you need some tips on properly pruning, head on over to the
