Weeping Cherry and stress
by: Kimberly

Hi Erin, Kimberly here from landscape-solutions-for-you. Thank you very much for asking the question on your Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry. Tell your husband not to panic. This can happen to new trees. There are a few reasons why trees go into stress.

1. Too much water or not enough water
2. Soil conditions may not be right
3. Bad specimen - check warranty from the place you bought the tree - many nurseries have a limtied warranty of a year
4. Some trees will do well for a couple of months and then go into shock - this could be adjusting to new environment.

One thing I suggest is to take a small knife and scratch the surface of the bark. If it is green, the tree is still alive. If it is brown, it is definitely under stress. There are some things you and your husband can do. I put up a blog today for you and others about trees going into shock. Feel free to read in details. If you have more questions, let me know. I hope this information and the page on the blog will help. The best of luck to you and let us know how your tree is doing.
Kimberly
