swimming pool

(santa clarita ca.)

I live in zone 9a southern California and need to plant a tree, shrub, or vine to block the hot summer sun from my south facing patio and house, but we have a pool so nothing that will make a huge mess ,or possibly have invasive roots.

Can you download a picture?

Hi Georgia:
This is Kimberly from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for taking the time to ask a question about your landscape around your swimming pool. There are many shrubs and some trees you can plant around the pool. You live in a sub-tropical to tropical climate zone and there are some really nice evergreen plants that would do well. If you haven't had a chance, check out the tropic section. There are some pages on plants that would go well around your pool and fit your zone. Day Lilies are wonderful flowers you could use in a bed.

If you would like, download a picture of the pool and I would be happy to give you suggestions on what and where to incorporate each plant. You can download the picture for me to put up live on the website, or if you want, just download to me and I will work on it and send it back to you. Do what ever you feel comfortable with.

If there is anyone that wants to help Georgia with some plants suggestions, feel free to comment and help Georgia in her landscape around her pool!

Thanks:
Kimberly
