We planted a border of Aborvitae between our side yard & neighbors 19 yrs ago. We have been very pleased with the privacy "wall" and have not done anything to care for the trees except for watering & fertilizer the 1st few yrs. Now that they are approx. 15 ft tall, many are bending over at the top. What should we do? We have never trimmed them.

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on your Arborivates. Sometimes through the years Arborvitaes get top heavy. You will want to top them off.

You don't want to do a heavy pruning, just take pruners or lopers and on a ladder, prune off the top part of each tree. This will allow for more top and side growth.

Sounds like you have taken good care of the trees for years. Prune the tops and you should continue to have the healthy trees for years to come.
