Unknown plant

I saw this in many gardens on Vancouver Island when I was there in March, but nobody could tell me the name of it. I'm dying to find out more about it, and see if it would grow in Southern Ontario!
It has masses of little white bell shaped flowers, variegated leaves and the new growth starts out red. The flowers are not fragrant at all. Please help!

Identifying Your Plant
by: Kimberly

Hi Susan, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on identifying the plant.

The plant is a Mountain Fire, Pieris Japonica. This is a beautiful shrub that will do well in zones four through nine. The plant comes to a focal point of a garden in the late winter and early spring months. Free flowing flowers blossom and creates a mass look in a garden. The Pieris Japonica should do fine in your zone. Below is a page on landscape solutions for you and the Pieris Japonica. Great addition to any garden. You can also put some varieties in containers.

Thanks again for asking the question and have a great day.
Kimberly
