Details re planting
by: Morton

Not sure if I am to reply to request for plant details in right place, but here goes.
Around front of the main structure and around waterway nearest to house, I used Carex(Brown/bronze) with Chionchola rubra(NZ Red Tussock). By the house window is Wisteria, Peaches & cream and to right is Psuedopanax "Cryl Watson"
Between pond and drive are Astelia "Westland", Hechura. Closest to pond and around front are Abelia
Also used 2 Thuya "rinegold, 2 roses, 1 Rhododendron and 2 cloloured Flax.
I have 78 photos showing start to finish which I could share with you if you would like to see how this project was developed. I had spent 5 years with a landscape contractor who specialized in artificial rock water features
and currently is working on production staff for a large production/retail nursery.
Here are some important steps;
1. Think like a rock - Try and think about your favorite colour or textured rock.
2.Prep, prep and more prep.
On the main structure insert thin stakes into ground. Nail farm fence netting to them, and bend and shape netting as required. Clip cheap windbreak cloth to netting and then clip 13mm gap chicken netting over top, keeping the same shape of the concrete plaster(5mm Sand and cement 4:1) Wearing rubber gloves, hand plaster structure, ensuring wire is encapsulated. A second coat is usually required.
3rd coat is finish coat. Using 4" paint brush and mixture of water/powdered oxide(black). Hand plaster final coat and as you go, texture plaster with brush dipped in strong black mix.
Next day I use mixes of rust, yellow, black oxide.
Splash on rust then in gaps yellow, let it soak in and then splash all over a black wash.
Ponds are separate units and overlap each other. The pond above has black plastic in between where they overlap. This is to ensure they can be moved separately, as well as not to crack.
I have difficulty in describing detail. It may look and seem difficult, but I would be happy to show you the simple process that is involved.
I hope I haven't confused everyone.
