water problem

I am having a lot of water settle upon my beds and seeps through into the basement.... causing water to come into the basement during fast paced rain .

How can I change my beds to prevent water from settling upon them? I would like the water to simply drain run off the beds .

Any ideas or suggestions ?

Thank you

Water Problem
by: Kimberly

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on your water problem.

There are two things you can do. The main objective you will want to accomplish is to divert the water away from your foundation. You can build up the beds with good quality top soil. You pitch the top soil so that the level is not flat across, but higher near the foundation. This will give you the water flow away from the foundation.

I am not sure where you are located, but a good quality top soil if available, is black dirt, saw dust, and sand mixed together.

You can also think about installing a solid corrugated pipe. You build a small trench and put the pipe in. Lay some small stones or rocks over the pipe and cover. The solid corrugated pipe will also divert the water away from your foundation.

Water seeping into a basement or under a foundation can be a common problem. I have done both of these suggestions with clients and have had a very good results.

I wish you the best of luck controling your water problem and let us know what you decide and how you make out. Thanks again for asking the question and feel free to ask anytime. Have a great day.
Kimberly
