Best Time To Prune Lemon Thread Cypress

Hi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on pruning your Lemon Thread Cypress. You can prune this Cypress in the fall or spring. In the spring, don't do a large pruning, as new growth is appearing. Prune back overgrown branches. One thing I like recommend is to try and keep the shrub in it's natural growth.

Remember to prune each branch at an angle. If you prune straight across you can damage the shrub. With the Lemon Thread Cypress, I like to start at the bottom and work my way up. The smaller needle like leaves that need just a little trim, I will use a good pair of scissors. A good pair of pruning shears will also help with the job.
