Is there a weed killer that I can use under and around the base of a white pine?

Weed Killer Around White Pines

Hi Thom, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on a weed killer for around your white pine trees.

The main aspect of killing weeds around your pines is to make sure the product is a non vegetation killer. A solid weed killer will do the trick. Make sure you get a surface contact and not a soil or dirt contact. If you get a dirt or soil killer, you won't be able to grow anything in the future.

I would still recommend to protect the base of your pine when spraying. I use an old cookie sheet and hold the cookie sheet up around each tree. This works well and your weeds should die out. You can purchase a weed killer at any major chain or speciality landscape or garden store.

I hope this helps and good luck to you with spraying your pine trees. Thanks again for asking the question here at landscape solutions for you. Have a great day!

Around most trees, incl pines I use Roundup/G360 and havent had any problems

Out of curiosity what do you call white pine? In NZ we have Native Tree "Kahikatea" with common name of White Pine
