What to plant

by Cyndi
(New Hampshire)

I live in central New Hampshire. I would like to plant an evergreen almost in the middle of my front yard. This is a memorial tree for my Mom (whose ashes will be buried under it.) Here are my criteria:

Spot is in a sprinklered (daily) area
Some morning and most afternoon sun
Don't want to go over 15-18 ft. tall mature
Want to put lights on it for the holidays
Hopefully, very little pruning or limited maintenance
Symmetry would be a plus
Color (blue) would be a plus

My biggest concern is that the area it will be in is well-watered from spring to fall. I don't want to drown it.

Any advise? Thanks so much.
Cyndi

Memorial Tree

Thuja Emerald Green is a very nice tree and very popular here in southern NZ, where I work we are busy lifting them from the field and bagging up
We also grow the following
2 possibilities
Juniper Blue Heaven

Tree To Plant In Middle Of Front Yard
by: Kimberly

Hi Cyndi, Kimberly here from landscape solutions for you. Thank you for asking the question on what tree to plant in your front yard.

Being in central New Hampshire, you will need a cold climate tree. Here are some suggestions for you that very well may work. Many evergreens once established will do well being watered throughout their growing seasons. All evergreen in colder climates will have their growth slow down.

1. Emerald Green Arborvitae - fast grower
2. Degroots Arborvitae - great option for Emeral Green
3. Lemon Thread Cypress
4. Blue Point Juniper - you can get your blue tone in this plant
5. Castle Hill Holly - good specimen
6. Sparten Juniper -

There are a number of smaller Spruce trees that will do well in your geographic location. The Fat Albert Spruce is a great choice for your teal or blue tone tree. The only drawback with the Fat Albert is it tends to be a slow grower.

These are a few evergreens for you to think about. If you need more selections let me know. Thanks again Cyndi for asking the question and good luck on finding your very special tree. Have a great day.
Kimberly
